1. What we collect

You give us

  • Account details: your email address and password, and a display name. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, which stores passwords hashed; Tick never sees or stores your password in readable form. If you leave the display name blank, the part of your email before the @ becomes your display name and the basis of your @handle.
  • Profile: bio, profile picture, banner, and changes to your @handle (we keep your past handles so old links still work).
  • Content: posts, pictures, videos, comments, likes, theses, Mentor Round votes and notes, journal writing, rules and rule checks, journal screenshots, community messages and the pictures and videos in them, community reviews, lessons, direct messages, and anything you write in a mentorship tier or mentor profile (including the location, if you add one). If you own a community or coach in one: your notes on members, notes on their journal days, saved segments, and messages you send to members.
  • Prop-firm details you enter in My Journal, such as firm names, account sizes, fees and payouts.
  • Choices: who you follow, which communities you join and when, what you share with each community's owner and coaches, your journal access settings, the days you mark private from mentors, who may message you, the leaderboard groups you accept, and your consent choices.

From your broker

When you connect a brokerage account: account identifiers and your order, fill and position history (instrument, direction, quantity, prices, times, profit and loss). This comes from the broker; you cannot type or edit it.

From payments

When you buy or sell on Tick, Stripe processes the payment. We receive the status and amount of the payment and Stripe's reference numbers. We do not receive or store full card numbers or bank account numbers.

Automatically

  • Cookies: Tick sets only the cookies that keep you signed in. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, pixels or third-party trackers.
  • Logs: our hosting providers record technical details of requests, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, to run and secure the service. Tick's own code does not store your IP address.
  • On your device: a thesis you start on our home page before signing up is kept in your browser, and on your account until it is filed. Thesis reminders you set use your browser's notifications and are scheduled on your device.

2. How we use it

To run Tick: to show your content to the people your settings allow; to verify trades against your broker's data; to calculate statistics, coverage, calendars, charts and leaderboards; to rank the Trending feed (by engagement and recency only, never by profit or loss); to process payments and payouts; to send you account messages and the notifications you choose; to keep Tick secure and investigate abuse; to enforce our Terms; and to meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. Tick shows no third-party ads.

3. What is public, and what is not

This is the most important section. Read it before you post or connect a broker.

Public to anyone, including people who aren't signed in

  • Your @handle, display name, bio, profile picture, banner, verified status and join date, and your past @handles.
  • Who you follow and who follows you.
  • Your coverage percentage (the share of your verified trades you have posted), in every journal mode. It cannot be hidden.
  • Trades you post, with their verified figures, and the statistics, calendar and P&L chart built from them. You can hide the calendar and chart from your profile, but the posted trades themselves stay public.
  • Your posts, pictures and comments, and trades of yours that other people quote.
  • Theses, from 4:00 PM Eastern on their trading day, with their comments and likes (who liked a thesis can be looked up).
  • Mentor Round votes, from 4:00 PM Eastern, each with the voter's display name and @handle, whether they agreed, and any note. Voting is not anonymous.
  • The communities you belong to, each community's member list, and whether each member is a paid member and which tags they hold.
  • A community's leaderboard, which ranks members by the trades they posted.
  • A community's combined figures — its Performance page, the figures on its Overview, and its place in the Communities ranking on the Leaderboard. These combine the verified trades of its tracked members, including trades they have not posted, and never show any one member's numbers (Section 5).
  • Reviews you write of a community, with your @handle and star rating.
  • A mentor's profile and written reviews (each shown with the reviewer's @handle and display name), and statistics about their mentorships: how many mentees they have had and have now, how many journal entries they have annotated, and their typical reply time, which is calculated from the timestamps (not the content) of messages in their mentorships.

Pictures in posts and theses, and profile pictures and banners, are stored at unlisted links: anyone who has the link can open the file. A picture attached to a thesis can be opened by anyone with its link before the thesis is released.

Public if you set your journal to Public (the default)

Your journal writing: day notes, notes on posted trades, rule checks, strategies and rules, and day tags. Anyone can read it. Choose Private or Paywalled in My Journal's settings to limit it.

Visible only to you and the people you let in

Trades you have not posted, and your journal writing when your journal is Private or Paywalled, can be read only by you and by: people you whitelist; paying subscribers, if your journal is Paywalled (and paid members of your community, if you bundle the two); an active mentor, except on days you mark private; a community owner or coach you chose to share your progress or journal with (Section 5); the people you send a shared journal day to; and the members of a leaderboard group you accepted. Setting your journal to Public does not publish unposted trades. These rules are enforced by our database, not only by the app.

Sharing a journal day

When you share a day from My Journal into a conversation, the members of that conversation can see exactly the entries you picked — the trades, including unposted ones, with your notes and rule checks on them, and the day's note if you included it — and nothing else from your journal. You can stop sharing at any time from the message; from then on they see that it is no longer shared.

Visible only to you

  • Your email address and password.
  • Your journal screenshots (shown to you through links that expire after an hour).
  • Prop-firm details you enter.
  • Your record of which Terms you accepted, and your consent choices.
  • Your notifications, and your message privacy setting.
  • The log of who opened your progress or journal in a community (Section 5).

Sealed theses

A thesis submitted between 8:30 and 9:30 AM Eastern can be read during that window by other traders who have also submitted a thesis that day, as part of the Mentor Round (the app does not show them the author's name until they vote). From 9:30 AM until 4:00 PM Eastern it is visible only to you. At 4:00 PM it is published automatically.

4. What a mentor can see

A 1:1 mentorship is a tier inside a community: the community's owner mentors a few members directly, and an approved mentee also becomes a paid member of that community. Accepting a mentorship gives your mentor the broadest access anyone else has to your data on Tick. While the mentorship is active, your mentor can see:

  • all your verified trades, posted and unposted, with their figures;
  • your journal calendar and daily profit and loss;
  • your day notes and your notes on each trade;
  • your strategies and rules, and for each trade which rules you followed and your notes on them;
  • your review requests and the notes you send with them;
  • figures calculated from all of this, such as rule adherence, entries this month and this week's P&L.

Your mentor cannot see your journal screenshots, your prop-firm details, your email address, or your theses before they are released.

Private days

You can mark any day in My Journal as private from mentors. Our database then withholds that day's trades, notes, rule checks and tags from your mentor. Your mentor can see that the day is private, but nothing on it. A private day does not hide anything that is public for other reasons: posted trades stay public, and if your journal is set to Public, that day's writing stays public too.

What you share with each other

Notes your mentor writes on your journal, work they set you, entry reviews, shared notes and your review requests are visible to both of you. Messages between you are ordinary direct messages (Section 6).

When a mentorship ends

Your mentor's access to your journal and trades ends immediately. The notes, set work, entry reviews, shared notes and review requests created during the mentorship are kept, and both of you can still access them. Your messages remain in your conversation. A written review you leave is public with your @handle; a star rating without a written review stays between the two of you. If the mentorship gave you paid access to your mentor's community, that paid access ends; your membership stays unless you leave. Strategies or checklists your mentor sent you remain yours.

5. Communities, coaches and leaderboard groups

A community's owner can see everything posted in it. What members can see depends on each channel and chapter setting (everyone, paid members, or chosen tags). Pictures and videos in a channel are stored privately and shown only through links that expire, to people who can open that channel. Membership lists, including paid status and tags, are public. Trades you share into a community are your posted trades, shown there as well.

Your record in a community's combined figures

When you join a community with a connected broker, you are asked to agree that you will be “tracked”. If you agree, your closed, broker-verified trades from the time you join until you leave — including trades you have not posted — count toward that community's combined figures: its combined and median P&L, its daily calendar, how members changed since joining at 30, 90 and 180 days, and its place in the Communities ranking on the Leaderboard. These figures are public, but they only ever show members combined; nothing is shown until 10 members are tracked, and a milestone column needs 10 members too. When you join, a snapshot of your last 90 days (your baseline) is kept so change since joining can be worked out. If you leave, what you made while you were a member stays in the combined figures; nothing from before you joined or after you left is kept, and nothing marks which part was yours. If you don't agree, you can still join; you just aren't tracked.

What the owner and coaches can see

You choose, when you join and at any time on your Your progress page, whether to share with the community's owner, and with coaches they name: (1) your progress figures — your baseline, your figures since joining, your rule adherence and P&L over time — and (2) your full journal — your calendar, trades including unposted ones, notes and rule checks, except days you mark private. For each you can choose owner and coaches, owner only, or nobody. Nobody else ever sees them, and the owner sees them only while they use the Member desk (a paid feature, with a trial). The owner and coaches can write private notes about you, and notes on your journal days, which you can read.

A coach is a member the owner has given a coach role. Coach access starts 24 hours after it is given, and only once the coach accepts confidentiality terms; everyone who shares with coaches is told when a coach is added, so you can switch to owner only or stop sharing first. Someone who loses coach access cannot be given it again for 7 days. Every time the owner or a coach opens your progress or journal, it is logged, and you can see the log on your Your progress page. No software can stop someone who can see your information from photographing or copying it; share only with people you trust. Coaches and owners are bound by confidentiality terms, and you can report a breach to matteo@tick.so.

If the owner asks to share one of your results in a channel, you get a notification and it is posted only if you approve it.

Leaderboard groups

A leaderboard group is invite-only, 2 to 10 traders. If you accept an invitation, the other members can see your figures in the group — P&L, win rate, profit factor, rule adherence and trade count — from your closed, broker-verified trades after you joined, including unposted ones. You can leave a group at any time.

6. Messages

Direct and group messages can be read by the members of that conversation. Any member of a group can add people to it (up to 12 in total), and people added can read the whole conversation, including earlier messages. Other members can see when you last read the conversation. Messages cannot currently be edited or deleted once sent.

You choose who can message you: everyone, only people you follow, or nobody. A conversation started by someone you don't follow arrives as a request, apart from your conversations until you reply or move it; your mentor or mentee can always reach you.

Anything you share into a conversation, such as a trade or a post, is shown to each member only if they are allowed to see it anyway; otherwise they see that it is not available. A journal day you share is the exception described in Section 3: the members see the entries you picked.

Messages are stored by our database provider. People at Tick with administrative access can technically read them. We do so only to run and secure Tick, to investigate a report or suspected abuse, or when the law requires.

7. Who we share information with

  • Service providers that run Tick for us and may use data only to do so: Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), Vercel (hosting and image delivery), Stripe (payments and payouts, when you buy or sell), email delivery providers (for account emails and notifications), and the brokers you connect.
  • Sellers you buy from: when you subscribe to a journal or community or start a mentorship, that trader can see that you are a subscriber, member or mentee.
  • For legal reasons: when required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Tick, our users or others.
  • In a business transfer: if Tick is merged, acquired or sells its assets, your information may be transferred, and this policy will continue to apply to it.

8. How long we keep it, and deleting your account

We keep your information while your account exists.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in Profile settings. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. It permanently removes: your account and sign-in; your profile; your trades and journal; your posts, comments and likes; your theses, including other people's comments and likes on them; your mentor profile and mentorships and what was created in them; your community memberships and membership history, so your trades stop counting in any community's combined figures; any community you own, including every member's messages and lessons in it; your reviews, notifications, journal shares and leaderboard group memberships; your follows; and the files you uploaded.

What remains after deletion:

  • messages you sent, which stay in the other members' conversations without your name;
  • the record of which Terms and Privacy Policy you accepted and when, and your marketing consent history, which we keep to show what applied;
  • copies in our providers' backups and logs, until those expire on the providers' schedules (we do not restore deleted accounts from backups);
  • anything other people copied or saved outside Tick.

If another trader quoted one of your trades, the quote remains but no longer links to your trade.

Deleting individual items

You can delete posts and theses, unpost trades, and remove your profile picture or banner. The picture file of a deleted post, thesis or profile image may remain reachable at its direct link until you delete your account.

When you export a trade card as a video, the clip and card are uploaded to private storage for processing and deleted when the export finishes. If that clean-up fails, they may remain in private storage.

A copy of your data

To get a copy of the information we hold about you, email matteo@tick.so. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile; choose your journal's access mode and who is whitelisted; post or unpost each trade; mark days private from mentors; choose what each community's owner and coaches can see, and see who looked; stop sharing a journal day; choose who can message you; leave a community or a leaderboard group; turn marketing consent on or off in Profile settings; and delete your account.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, or to object to how it is used. Email matteo@tick.so to use them. We will not treat you differently for doing so. If you are in Canada, you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy regulator.

10. Security

Access to data is controlled in our database, table by table, so that each account can reach only its own data and what others have made visible to it; the rules in Section 3 are enforced there. Connections to Tick use HTTPS. Journal screenshots and pictures in community channels are shown only through links that expire. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed without permission. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as the law requires.

11. Age

Tick is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn that we have, we will delete the account.

12. Where Tick operates

Tick is offered in the United States and Canada. Our providers store and process information in the United States and may do so in other countries, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live. By using Tick you understand that your information will be handled there. If you use Tick from anywhere else, you do so on your own initiative.

13. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we publish the new version with its effective date, keep earlier versions at tick.so/legal/archive, and tell you by email or in the app. For a material change you will be asked to accept the new version before you continue using Tick.
